After more than three years of research, The Seattle Times published on its front page a massive investigation in which eight women accused Senator Adams, 65, of sexual misconduct and even rape. In an unusual move that stirred nearly as much controversy as the allegations, the paper withheld the names of the eight women-but announced that seven had signed affidavits agreeing to come forward if Adams sued....

Shapiro also returned to court last week in a new attempt to discredit Los Angeles police. He accused investigators of overlooking evidence suggesting Simpson’s innocence – and filed a motion for reams of data, including all reports of prowlers or burglaries near Nicole Simpson’s town house for six months preceding the killings. He’s looking to support what appears to be the defense’s central – and as yet groundless – contention: that Simpson was framed by someone who knew him and his ex-wife....
