The next match saw United pull off a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur with Welbeck, Anderson and Rooney striking the net. Man Utd recorded a thumping 8-2 victory over Arsenal in the next game which saw them rise to the top spot in the League table. United were in full control for most of the first half, with Danny Welbeck opening the scoring after 22 minutes. A few minutes later, United goalkeeper David de Gea saved Robin van Persie’s penalty. This mistake cost Arsenal heavily as United started on a goal spree led by Rooney who scored a hat-trick. Nani and Park hit the target soon after while Ashley Young scored in the dying minutes of the game. The match once again proved that United were the better half of the red jersey.

Having crushed Bolton Wanderers 5-0 in front of their home crowd, United returned to Old Trafford boasting their numero uno position in the table. Next up was Chelsea. That United will win this game, became prominent as Chris Smalling struck 8 minutes to the game. Some mishitting by Chelsea and some classic football by Manchester United gave the Red Devils a 3-1 win after Torres managed to score in the second-half.

Two draws and one win in the next three matches saw United slump to the 2nd position in the Premier League rankings. A 6-1 humiliation by arch rivals City gave Man Utd enough reason to question Sir Alex. But a fine manager as he is, United were back on terms in the next game with a 1-0 victory over Everton.

After that, United looked pretty ordinary scoring 4 goals in as many games and playing out a draw against Newcastle. And u got the idea that something big was coming. Much like the Red Devils, they bounced back with a 4-1 win against the Wolves and a 2-0 win at Queen’s Park. But there was still lots to come, and it came in the form of Dimitar Berbatov. He scored in the final minute of the game against Fulham. United recorded a 5-0 win with Welbeck, Nani, Giggs,Rooney and Berbatov finding the spot.

Five days later, Berbatov unleashed his magic against Wigan Athletic with a hat-trick that included a penalty. His cause was duly supported by goals from Ji-Sung Park and Antonio Valencia in the 8th and 75th minutes respectively.

After 18 matches, Manchester United are currently tied at the top spot of the table along with City who have a slightly better goal-difference than United. But, as true fans, we say,”Goal difference are taking them nowhere. The Premier League trophy was designed to stay at Old Trafford and so will it…..”

GLORY GLORY MANCHESTER UNITED!
