Announced over five years ago, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to be a sprawling open-world RPG, developed using Ubisoft’s groundbreaking Snowdrop engine. Apparently boasting some of the best visuals in the gaming industry so far, and immersive gameplay, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been one of the most anticipated games for quite some time, but there’s only so long fans can keep their excitement up for, and it’s been a while since they’ve heard anything regarding the game.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s Radio Silence Is Not Helping It

Back when Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was first announced, the only information given to the public was that Massive Entertainment was working on a game set within James Cameron’s Avatar universe. Though a few leaks and rumors sprouted up every now and then, the next official word about the project wouldn’t come until E3 2021, when its title was revealed to be Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and a brief cinematic trailer was shown.

Over the course of about two and a half minutes, this reveal trailer showed off some truly impressive environments and character models. The trailer showcased lush green fields, arching foliage, vibrant wildlife, and plenty of Avatar-esque bioluminescence. The trailer showed the Na’vi in their homes, taking care of the wilderness and caring for their animals, before cutting to the RDA and their destructive technology. The trailer ends with an aerial fight between two Na’vi on their flying Banshees, and two RDA Samson helicopters, giving a hint at the game’s possible conflict.

That 2021 trailer is the last time Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been seen. Originally, Frontiers of Pandora was set to release in 2022, but it was quickly delayed to 2023. However, according to new financial reports from Ubisoft, the game may not release until 2024. Regardless of its release date, though, it’s imperative that Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment show more about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora soon, as fan anticipation is slowly dying out. This is especially true for fans who were expecting to see Frontiers of Pandora during the recent Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, or the recent Ubisoft Forward Showcase, as they now feel disappointed with the lack of any news or updates.

With Avatar: The Way of Water releasing in just a few weeks’ time, Ubisoft has the perfect opportunity to promote Frontiers of Pandora. Even if the game is still a year or two away, it’s never too early to get the hype train going, and in Frontiers of Pandora’s case, it just needs restarting. Avatar 2 is sure to bring a lot of attention to the franchise, and Ubisoft needs to use that momentum to get Frontiers of Pandora into the mainstream consciousness. While fans really want a full reveal of Frontiers of Pandora’s gameplay, story, and characters, they’re desperate for any confirmation that the game is still coming out, and all Ubisoft and Massive need to do is just release one in-engine trailer to keep the flames stoked.
