This game has been in development for some time, first announced in 2018 and given its 2020 release window by Ubisoft at Gamescom 2019. The development team says that there has been great feedback from fans and playtests that make it clear “we are on the right path to deliver a great game,” but they will be delaying its release “until further notice” to achieve “exceptional” quality.

No new release date, or even a potential release window, has been specified by Ubisoft or the post put out on the game’s website, known as The Settlers Alliance, where fans can also find details on re-released “History Editions” of the series’ seven previous games that have been optimized for modern PCs. It says to watch the website and social media channels for further updates whenever they are available, but it’s unclear when that might be.
Though there is nothing to indicate a connection to The Settlers delay in particular, Ubisoft as a whole has recently been under fire after reports of company-wide sexual assault and harassment have come to light. In response, yesterday CEO Yves Guillemot announced structural changes meant to combat this toxicity.
The Settlers is currently in development for PC.
