The Sims 4 wasn’t popular when it first released, with many fans citing cut features as a major source of their disdain. The game also had some major issues with bugs during its launch, though it has managed to regain some of its fan base through updates and downloadable content, like the one that lets you “woohoo” with Santa, since its original launch back in 2014. These updates have done a lot for the franchise, and now many Sims fans are awaiting another entry in the franchise.

Previously, EA stated that Origin would no longer be giving away free games, shuttering the “On The House” program shortly before the release of their premium subscription service. The program featured a multitude of free games, with Mass Effect 2 and Dead Space being a few standouts. It’s wonderful to see a free game return to the service after a 10-month dry spell, but it’s still not clear if EA intends to make it a common occurrence.

For players that aren’t able to grab the game within the week, it is still available on Origin Access Premier, though fans will need to determine for themselves if Premier is worth the money. It’s definitely worth grabbing for anyone looking to kill some time in a second life, and probably worth downloading Origin for those that have avoided the service.

It’ll be interesting to see if another Sims game does surface at E3 2019, as giving away The Sims 4 would be a great way to drum up excitement for a new entry in the franchise. Only time will tell, but until then fans will just have to distract themselves by removing the stairs from a swimming pool. In the game, of course.

The Sims 4 is available for free on Origin until May 28th, 2019.
